Last week, we were excited to have only visited the clinic on Monday & Friday. The weekend was ours to enjoy, followed by a light M/F this week. Monday turned into an unexpectedly long day with infusions to boost low electrolytes. That led to additional follow-ups on Wednesday and Friday, plus a Tuesday appointment that somehow popped up on the calendar. In return, they cancelled the Friday so we've got 5 days off. Please pray that no surprises come our way and ruin the respite.
JoJo and I were talking over lunch today and recalling how crammed full of facts, figures, numbers, etc., our brains used to be. The gray matter was always churning data. Perhaps it was because we were very busy with jobs and raising kids. And maybe it is now due to computers and Google and cellphones that eliminate the need to keep track of every minuscule detail. In any event, the head empties, the pace slows and the brain is released from trivial tasks allowing it to engage in deeper and more creative wandering. We've never really had time for unstructured or unproductive thought. It's nice. Is this what it's like to be a philosophy major? :-)
We are trying to score the perfect day for leaf watching. This past week's weather has been remarkable, but the peak is not quite here. We fear that the weather and winds may turn uncooperative. Mother Nature is fickle.
JoJo has received some very thoughtful cards this week. You know who you are, and we thank you for the time we spend in your heart.
RIP Steve Jobs. Proving yet again the indiscriminate and unmerciful selection of cancer.
