JoAnne made it through Round 3 of chemo with reasonable control of the side effects. In her world that means no unplanned trips to the Emergency Room. Through the miracle of modern pharmaceuticals she is able to moderate much of the nausea and pain that are side effects of the miraculous modern pharmaceuticals that attack the cancer and boost her immunities.
She was optimistic about getting through this round quickly, but (and there always seems to be a but) she morphed into a bronchitis, sinusitis type inflammation that has her pretty down and out. She is on antibiotics and at the clinic receiving IV immunoglobulins today. Which reminds me, we were thinking of trick or treating as he and she immunoglobulins for Halloween. We're still trying to figure out a costume for that.
JoAnne is hoping that she will feel well enough to attend the Women of Faith gathering at the Xcel Center this weekend. Probably not a great idea to hang out with 20,000 women when you are immuno-compromised, but her blood numbers came back OK so perhaps it will all work out. She and the girls have enjoyed going the last few years. It's not the same crowd that you find at Xcel for a hockey game or Springsteen concert. Far more sober, but no less boisterous!
This update thing started out as a quick way to get the word out to some of JoAnne's family members. As we go along, we have been expanding addressees to include additional family and close friends who have supported JoAnne and kept her in their thoughts and prayers. Thanks for the good vibe you send her way. She is feeling the love.
Just to buff things up a bit, I thought I would use Google Translator so I could express our traditional ending in a foreign language; sort of a multi-cultural thing. In French it was Cancer Aspire which doesn't seem quite right and in Spanish it was Cancer Mama which really makes me wonder about the thought process that went into the evolution of the Spanish language. For now lets just stick with what works............
